We have made it a whole week, without many Texas withdrawals. I had a busy week, starting work and getting settled in but Ryan and I have had so much fun in our first week in our new home. We cooked dinner ever night, and had tons of fun using our vegetables and meat from the farmer's market that is right outside of our apartment every Saturday. Jana took me down there last Saturday during the move-in craziness and I got all sorts of things. We got some eggplant, berries, mushrooms, ground beef, zucchini, honey, and so much more! Granddaddy would love it, he could have his own little stand! Here are some pictures from our visit this weekend. Ryan had a blast! This week we got peaches, baby tomatoes, blackberries, cucumbers, and crab dip. Here are some pictures from the market!
We also are getting so much closer to being fully moved in! We went and bought a cabinet to put some of our china and other fancy dishes in! We love our apartment, and I will be posting pictures very soon. Like I said, I started work this week, and it went well! I mentioned RGIII in one of the classrooms, and was quickly accepted. Ryan has been working around the apartment, and coming to visit me for lunch. I even came home to him cooking our dinner one night! It was great he had marinated chicken and started the pasta. We ended up sitting out on our patio watching planes fly in and talking about our days. He is getting pretty bored waiting for his classes to start, but he fills his time with NCAA football, cleaning the kitchen, and whatever else he can find to do. I don't get home until 7ish, so we only get to hang out for a little bit before we have to go to bed and start the routine all over again.
I really thought I would be more homesick, but I have felt so loved by so many people calling and texting to check in with us. I knew that when we decided to come to Washington D.C. that God truly was in control, but every day I am overwhelmed with his peace and joy even in the 90 degree weather with 100% humidity. Even through many crowded metro rides, long days running around work, and my feet hurting from all the walking, I know God's plan for Ryan and I was to be here. We are excited about week 2 and will be updating more frequently with our outings and local finds! Until next time...
Cheers!
